Thanks very much

Hi Julian

I have used Phill Wright 07855 146439 and been very pleased he dose most of the Porsche's in Kent.

Whoever you get firstly stand over them when they are removing the 'screen as it is very easy for them to cut the paint, resulting in rusting of the surround a few years after the event. If the paint is damaged ensure that it is repaired before the new 'screen goes in. I had this a few years ago and had to spend a small fortune getting it repaired. Speaking to our friendly bodyshop man he told me that he has had fairly new cars that have had their 'screens replaced in for remedial work around screen apertures.

Secondly, make sure that they are familiar with the manner in which the 993 'screens are fitted, as they are an amalgum of bonded and old fashioned rubber seal. That is there is an inner rubber which fits into the aperture and the 'screen is then bonded to this. I have had quite a few 'screens fitted or re-fitted and not once has it been done correctly. I don't know if it's the bonding to the rubber that's the problem or what. I think I've probably had the full gambit of possibilities - too high, too low, squint, too deep in the recess, too shallow in the recess and sometimes a combination of two or more of these. If the 'screen is not fitted correctly the rubber outer seal will not fit correctly and will not look right, not seal right or even curl up into the aperture as the leading edge of the seal does not have enough body to sit onto and the force of the air when travelling at speed forces it back.

Good luck

Thanks very much for the replies, the old screen is out, paint all done, new genuine screen and inner and outer seals all ready. I have the teflon tape but how much should it overlap onto the roof ? Just a few ml?
