Any ideas or suggestions for getting Marks car back on the road?

I have a 924 Turbo in almost concourse condition, however I am just trying to drive it for the first time in many years and the problem is that it pinks very badly when the turbo kicks in. I did top up the fuel but now we have decided to drain the tank and refuel in case of contaminants. The next job is to see if the turbo is over boosting, it is currently at a speciaist who is carrying out the work because I wanted a full health check before I started driving her again. If all this fails have you any more suggestions; I would really appreciate some help I was hoping to get it on the road for this weekend to visit Club HQ. Thanks for your help.

Probably the fuel has gone off and lost its octane rating, hence the pinking.
Apart from that, i would guess the specialist will have everything else covered !!

Just bought a 924 series 1 turbo in guards, lovely car. Hope to do the track days in it this year, hope I don't have the same problem will let you know when I pick it up Thursday.

This advice may be a bit late ... but if it's a mk1 it could be that the weights in the distributer are not moving properly and the ignition timing is not being retarded correctly, or that the rubber hose providing manifold pressure to the distributer has perished.
