Shame the centre console wasn't done aswell, it may have pulled it all together...
Although it could be added later without too much hassle.

All down to personal taste... OK from my point of view

Yes Rob Im a Red 997 C4S X51 chap as well, and I love the colour of my car. I cannot totally make my mind up if the colour works that well on a Turbo....it does on this one in the USA, but then again in Miami like areas these colours come up better. Also I think I have decided I could not get on with Red seat backs Im afraid...thing is not many red turbos come up, and although I do like black, grey & silver, cannot help but think Guards red is just a great colour..maybe a bit too in your face for some, maybe its just the exhibitionist in me!

Chris, I think the Turbo looks awesome in Red. Thing that I hate on US cars are those 'lumps' in the rear bumper, either side of the plate - what's that all about !

Red seat backs - I think they look ok. I would go see the car and then make my mind up.

Chris

Personal taste but in this case Ugh!

I can see the point of a Guards red exterior on a sports car and the red seat belts might break up an otherwise dull interior especially on something like a GT3, however the read stitching and seatbacks look awful. I would also worry that there might be only a limited market to sell into at a later date.

Well I did go to have a look at it and I must say in person the car looked really well. Looking through the back screen on the car the seat backs looked very fetching indeed, gave it a sort of race car look from the rear. I did find the red stitching was a bit not quite to my taste, but I could live with it. Anyway it really doesnt matter now as the car is sold anyway!.
Mind you they did have a nice black GT3 in which again in person looked great, I am not a fan of the rear wings on these things, but again in person & in black the car looked really quite menacing...it sits so much lower & the front looks so much better than a normal carrera....the chap actually started the car up & it sounded fantastic!....I need to stop going to dealers, Im like a child in a sweet shop!

why do we all get so worried about re-sale - I thought we bought these cars for ourselves...?
whatever you spec, the dealer will say it's wrong come trade in time !
If you like it - go for it !

I totally agree, the last car I traded in was actually spec'ed by an OPC, so was "the perfect spec for resale"... they still said it was wrong when trading it in...[:'(]

Hi Chris

I went the whole way on my 997. Red stitching, console, instruments, belts and seat backs! After years of following the resale millstone of silver, grey and black cars, I wanted my first Porsche to be different.. And, contrary to perceived notions about colours, my dealer told me they could have sold my car five times over while it waited two weeks in the dealership for me to collect it......

Here is mine:

Good for you Robert, I whole heartedly agree that one should spec a little 'livelier' colours/specs to personalise your Porsche. We all have differant tastes, which is a good job really, one mans honey is another mans marmite, but I do think there are just too many silver, grey & black cars around nowadays, lets hope for a revolution!

Robert, great pictures. Proves to me how the centre console in the colour ties up the whole colour scheme.

Thanks Chris and Garyw

Talking of livelier colours just got back from the Total911 magazine French Riviera Easter Tour organised by www.driving-adventures.co.uk, with 18 911s, including a brand new factory collected GT3 RS in Viper Green. It looked awesome!

Tour pic, mine on the left.

Viper green is my absolute favourite colour Ive seen a Porsche wear. The only problem is I would just feel self concious driving around all day in it its so bright, ( not to mention the RS's spoiler )its almost demanding people to look at you!...and I like to fly just under the radar a little. But on an RS used mainly for track & stuff, yep I would have one in VG definatley..maybe I need to be braver!

The moral of the storey is buy what you like - spec it how you want it. The OPC will rip you off come trade in time anyway

I went for two grey boxsters but to liven them up I wnet for the Boxster Red and terracotta interiors - it meant that they wre something different/special compaired to my previous fleet of balc interiored cars.

Even now having gone back to "boring black" - hey i like black, we still went for sand beige as a diffreent interior colour

If I went for a GT3RS it'd have to be either the Viper green or that 70's burnt orange colour
