Ref sensors....different question

Just wondered, out of all the people who have removed their ref sensors, how many had the zinc plated 'figure 8' type washer underneath the sensor head on the rearmost sensor , between the plastic head and the bracket is probably a better description.

There are two washers listed, a thicker one for turbos than N/A.

I know Daves Turbo had one as he has recently had his apart.

My N/A did not have one and I doubt the sensor had ever been out since new.

I struggle to see what the purpose of the washer is ? The gap between sensor and flywheel when correctly set will not matter if you set it with or without the washer, if you set the gap with the washer in place it must always be there and vice versa if you didn't it doesn't......follow

So, the original questions, who's had it and what does it do ?

With the bracket still in place in the car I appear to have one washer on the sensor furthest away from the engine.

My Guards red trackday 1987 MY 924S does have a separate thin walled aluminium tube around the rearmost sensor-presumably to shield it from effecting the adjacent sensor & vice versa-(presumably only
only the tips produce the signal).

Perhaps that special washer acts as a spacer to lift one tip higher than the other for a similar effect?

Interesting - I have the interference shield on the reference sensor (the one at the front) and it sounds like you have it on the speed sensor. It should be on the reference sensor.

The shroud on mine was one the sensor nearest the block.

Edit*

The shield will only fit the sensor nearest the block as the bracket is machined bigger to accept it.

You're must right-I was guessing from memory rather than consulting my old parts bin or jpegs I took at the time-my excuse is old age[&o]
