Refinishing 924 spoked 15" alloys

Any tips on taking off old lacquer and mild corrosion on the 15" Porsche spoked alloys, the ones with blacked spokes with a silver face.
I was going to use fine?? wet & dry and then blow the black paint in from the back and then do a transparent lacquer coat from the front after removing any black overspray from the front face.

Fine wet and dry will sand of the diamond tooling all to quicky. Put on some rubber gloves and on an area that doesnt show, see how quickly Nitro Mors, assisted with some wire wool, will strip the lacquer. If you leave the Nitro Moors on too long it could chemically blacken the alloy, so several light applications are better than one heavy application. I once used 1200 wet and dry on one of my wheel centres and in five minutes flat, under running water, I very nearly polished off the "e" in Porsche.

Thanks John

I wasn't to worried about getting the lacquer off because it seems to be flaking on its own. I was more concerned with getting off the corrosion underneath. Also whether I should be looking at a chemical etch paint so the paint will stick on better - any ideas on these two things?
