Refitting rubbing strips?

Question is how doable is it to refit my rubbing strips after I took em of the other year? I still have all 6 pieces and they look fine but aren't all perfectly straight because I had to use the hair dryer on them to get them off without destroying the paint.

Basically I took them of because at the time I didn't like the effect on how the car looks and I was going to do all sorts of styling changes such as 968 look which I have now backed away from completely. I would even like to swap my 16" cups at some point for a set of teledials even though they where not fitted to the S2 (IMHO out of all the stock wheels either Fuchs or teledials look best on the S2/951 body).

I also found btw after taking the rubbing strips of that in the past one panels respray was done with em of and another panels was done with em on leaving the car with some big nasty steps and marks where the rubbing strips where.

Neil,
Your car looks great IMO with them removed[8D].

I have removed mine too.

I also removed the rear bumper and replaced it with a rubber free one[8D][8D][8|]. (Works on a black Car, probably would on a white one too)

To answer your question, 3M two sided tape applied with a heater first to a cleaned side strip section, and onto clean paint will work. I would forget the black adhesive in the centre, or if you must, bonded glass adhesive from the Windscreen Centre would leave the strip so it was virtually permanent.
