Refurb options for m030?

Fella down Lincoln way does them, Google Koni Refurbishment, if you have no joy get back to me and I will get a name to you.

Don't believe the rears can be refurbished (other than cosmetics and perhaps bushes). These are sealed units so I don't see how you can rebuild them. The fronts of course can be disassembled so rebuild is possible.

It is interesting to note that the 968 M030 suspension has coil over "helper" springs on the rear shocks as do parts advertised as 944 Turbo Cup parts. These appear to be sealed tubes like normal shocks. Do you have the helper spring rear shocks or "normal"?

I'll certainly hang my head in shame if these rear shocks are indeed rebuild-able but ALL images I've seen (and the rear Koni I got for my S2) are sealed tube type. I agree there are several aftermarket coil over suspension options with rebuild-able shocks but AFAIK OE options were all sealed rears.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the info - sorry for the delayed reply!

Not sure if the rears can be rebuilt or not yet - I spoke to a couple of people with mixed responses.

However, the original items are still available from OPC and although more expensive than a rebuild (if it can be done at all !) it's not that much more - particularly if you can get some discount :)

As added info, one place (from the Koni link above) said they could do new ones for very little money but when I asked them to find out a bit more to confirm they would actually be the same as the original m030 units it transpired that they were not. If you see any rear Koni dampers that fit a Turbo S from anywhere apart from OPC they will probably not be right. They will fit but will just be Koni sport dampers - part number has 1035 at the end. I gave him the correct part numbers and he found from Koni that they have never been offered direct to the aftermarket - only to Porsche themselves, apparently.

With those big heavy wheels and tyres you're using I'd have thought uprated dampers would be beneficial.....

Yip, that happened to me. Front struts were last manufactured in December 2003, although mine were not m030. The date was on the packaging, so you can reject them if the same applies.
