Below is the information of the events that we would like to see many of you undertake. This is a change to the last three years of a Wolds Tour but that is what a few of you requested for a change. The Treasure hunt is free of charge. Just advise if you wish to do please by emailing Cliff Doe The BBQ is the finishing point of the Treasure Hunt. You can attend this event even if you do not do the Treasure Hunt as it is the Regional BBQ. However the charge for this special event I can subsidise from a bit of profit we made following the Blyton park novice event. For those that attended last year's event at the Brackenborough Hotel you will remember the five star menu put on with the pulled pork, this will be on the menu again being a favourite. I have asked for a dessert to finish which is planned to be strawberries & cream. please fill in & post your cheques to Richard as soon as possible. BBQ cost is per person £12.00 for r4 members, children over 5 years £7, and guests ie non-members £15.50 pp GANTSPEED R4 TREASURE HUNT On Sunday 4th August, R4 will hold a closed to Region 4 Treasure Hunt followed by a BBQ at the Brackenborough Hotel near Louth. The Treasure Hunt is kindly sponsored by Robert Gant and the event will start from his Gantspeed Engineering workshops on Chapel Lane, Mareham le Fen. First car away at 10.30 sharp. Those taking part are urged to arrive at Gantspeed by 10.00 where tea/coffee and cakes will be provided and the first 2 questions will be set. The route of just over 30 miles will take in some of the most scenic parts of the Southern Wolds and the navigation will be by written instructions consisting of "Turn Right, Turn Left, Straight Across" etc. with road numbers, road names and signpost indications plus total mileages. For those who like the back-up of a map, the whole route is contained within Ordnance Survey Landranger Map 122. The Treasure Hunt questions will be on numbered lines inserted between lines of route navigation. There will be NO tricks and you will not have to "collect" anything on-route. To supply many of the answers you will not even have to get out of your car. That said, some answers will only be found by getting out! The start from Gantspeed Engineering on Chapel Lane is at map reference (MR) 283609 post code PE22 7PZ. For those without a map, which is not essential, look out for a dayglo "rally arrow" which will be sited at the junction of Chapel Lane and the A155. The finish at the Brackenborough for the 5* BBQ is at MR 319899 - post code LN11 0SZ just off the A16, 2.5 miles North from the centre of Louth. Be there or be square, Cliff & Julie Doe Joint Clerks of the Course.

Just wanted to say thank you to those involved in organising and running the events, Cliff & Julie for the Treasure Hunt, and Richard and Gavin for the BBQ, not to mention Ashley and team at the Brackenborough for the actual BBQ itself and the venue, and whoever organised the good weather. Must also thank Robert Gant for the drinks and cake before the Treasure Hunt start, and for the winners plaques, which we were lucky enough to win. Yes it was more luck than good judgement, and a total surprise as a divorce seemed more on the cards than a win on more than occaison en route as we 'discussed' the true and hidden meaning of "Take the first right"* :ROFLMAO: No doubt I've missed out other helpers, so thank you to them also Rod & Sylvia * For those wanting to know the true meaning of 'Take the first right' actually means drive past the first right, proceed past at least 3 possible turning places before turning around and taking what seems typically to now be the 3rd left - but you do get to see even more parts of wonderful Lincolnshire!!
