Regional Concours - Sunday 8th August

Just a brief reminder that our Regional Concours event is on Sunday 8th August - at OPC Silverstone.

This will be a "Wash and Shine" event aimed at all members, not just those with pristine cars. No excuses, come along.

More details to follow, but block the date out in you diary. There will be a best visitors prize too, so you don't need to be just from Region 10 (...but it helps!).

See you all then.

Arrive from 10 onwards,

Cars need to be at the OPC at 11:45 for registration so judging can begin at 12 O'Clock through to approx 1:30

Assuming everyone is done judging by 1:30 ish we hope to have the results by about 2 if I can get my technology working! [;)] so there shouldn't be the same delay as last year (no slight on the efforts of those involved last year as entering 40 * 40 * 4 data points by hand then adding them up and sorting them in a spreadsheet obviously takes quite a while to say the least).

All entrants will be eligible to judge all cars (except their own). Marks, out of 10, will be awarded for bodywork, wheels/tyre, windows and interior. No worries about the engine bay, underneath the car or the luggage compartments!

A simple handicapping will be applied to cars, based on average annual mileage.

Prizes and trophies will be awarded to highest scorers in the following categories:

Best modern water cooled (covering 996, Boxster and Cayenne)
Best air cooled (covering 911's through to 993)
Best early water cooled (covering 924, 944, 928 and 968)
Best pre-1980 (primarily 356, 550's, 912, 914 and early 911)
Best visitor (non-R10 members)
And one of the above will also be the "Overall Winner" for 2004.

In addition, there will be prizes for "favourite car" and best bodywork.

We have a few minor details to work out so there might be some small changes but the above is pretty much it.

Last year I think we had about 40 entrants and it was a really great event. Lots of people, great support from the OPC and fun for all. My son loved helping with the voting!

All of you please come along and support this event.

Andy

Right then!! I found out yesterday that MotorServ in Wolverton are a distributor for Maguiars detailing products - so I hotfooted it over there and bought a whole load of bits and pieces, determined to give this Concours a good try at least. With my hugely "non-standard" car the Street Concours is all I can hope to take part in - but we'll give it a go. I'm looking forward to it. See you all there.[8|]

Best regards

Dave

Good Luck Dave, nice to see that you are getting involved with the PCGB.

( did you buy some fly spray as well[;)])

Rgds

Actually Ken - I did!!! I was very impressed with the way the Meguiars Bug and Tar Remover works. I've tried a few others but this one seems to work really quickly and it leaves a really good finish. OK - end of advert!!

BTW I noticed that Alan was using the Maguiars Quick Detailing spray over at Walton Hall the other weekend - and that's really good too. Especially with the clay bar.

Hope to see all those shining cars on Sunday!!

Best regards

Dave

Dave,
I haven't got you on my Register Display and Parade Laps List for The Porsche Club Festival.

Hope you are coming, also Alan and Chrisie.

Cheers,

Ken,

I don't think we're going to make it for the Brands weekend. Being a Bank Holiday weekend I wasn't keen to spend a bundle on hotels (and there's no way that Jane would camp!!) and it's too much of a drag to drive there and back for any more than one day - so I thought I'd just pass this time.

I think I'm more keen on the small gatherings (like the local R10 meetings) and our 964 get-togethers rather than the big do's like Brands. I guess if it were at Silverstone I'd almost certainly go but the thought of the M25 on a Bank Holiday doesn't fill me with enthusiasm I'm afraid.

Best regards

Dave

Just a reminder for the "Show and Shine' this Sunday and a note to say we have had to limit the number of cars entered in the competition to a maximum of 36 due to the time it will take for judging and data entry.

If you are definatly coming and wish to be sure of getting a place in the competition then if you email me at teardrop@zen.co.uk you will get a place reserved. If you do get a place then you will need to be at the OPC by 11:30 or the place will be given to anyone who is waiting (assuming all other spaces are taken).

If you don't email me then obviously you can still show up by 11:45 and if there are still spaces you will be ok otherwise you will only be able to participate in the judging.

This should be especially relevant for anyone coming from out of the region. We don't want you to have a long trip and then be dissapointed.

Cheers

Andy

Andy,

I replied to your e-mail address given above and it bounced!!!

My reply was:

I'll be there!!! Yellow 1989 C4. Bring yer sunglasses!!!

Best regards,

Dave

Andy/Mike,

Do you have any idea how many cars we can expect tomorrow??

Cheers,

Dave
Always an unknown, due to limited willingness to commit.

We have just over a dozen confirmed, but probably 30+ on the day as the weather forecast is reasonably positive.
