I am pleased to announce to members that region 19 will hold its own regional concours event this year after a hiatus of four years.
It will be held on Saturday 6th July at Fiennes Restoration in Filkins on the Boughton Poggs Business park. Fiennes Restoration has given over the use of their seven acre hard surfaced site for our exclusive use. Since their open day I have worked closely with Archie Wearne, my main point of contact at Fiennes Restoration, and one of the benefits is that Fiennes Restoration are able to offer the added attraction of a walk through their premises so that visitors can see first-hand some outstanding examples of restoration and some beautiful finished cars being fettled; to minimise the disruption to Fiennes Restoration employees and bearing in mind this will cost the region nothing I thought that in an attempt to match Archie's goodwill gesture we would settle for a Saturday for the competition. Furthermore, driving along the A40 approach to Oxford is likely to be a pain on a Sunday afternoon, I hope it to be less so on a Saturday.
I will also be lighting a barbecue of some sort, so all in all it promises to be a good day for all.
Competitors can arrive from 10:00 am and do the final preparation, then, we can eat and have the judging mid-afternoon. The region thanks Fiennes Restoration unequivocally for letting us use this facility; it surely must be the perfect setting in which to hold this sort of event and should create a great atmosphere.
The competition will be run under the usual rules with no under bonnet or under-floor viewing, and the Craig Moore Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the overall winner.
To simplify the process, the trophies for each class will be presented on the day and will not be engraved with the winner's name. I tried this before and I will put my hand up and say that I bit off more than I could chew and some competitors never recieved their trophy. We all learn from our mistakes and rare is the man who has never made one.
I will do a small raffle, and if the weather is inclement the region has the official event shelter so that the judges can still assess in the dry.
I have entry forms on disc so if you wish to enter, email me at r19@Porscheclubgb.com and I will be happy to send you a form (electronically if you wish) and the address to which you can send your entry forms.
I loook forwad to recieving your entries
