As the dust begins to settle, the vehicles unloaded and our event items safely stored for another twelve months, Deb and I finally sat down and chatted over a copious amount of wine last night about this year's Regional Show. Thank you for all your kind words, texts and emails we have already received, but it really is a team effort and we couldn't do it without the great support we have from our members and friends, from concours entrants to car park helpers or even those just popping along on the day you are all key to making these events a success.
We have, as always some real troopers, who selflessly give up their time for the good of others and this amazing car club and although Deb and I get all the accolades as Regional Organisers I can't stress enough, how much effort and involvement these key members tirelessly put in, not just on show days but throughout the whole year so others can come and go and have a great time, hopefully every time.
Once the tear down was complete and the field had being walked and checked for rubbish and we enjoyed a much needed first sit down of the day, looking around at the battle weary troops we recogonised by 7.00pm it had been a very long day for some. Yet as we eagerly tucked into a bowl of David & Amy's incredible chilli, followed by Wendy and Jude's cakes (a promised welcome reward for all the hard working volunteers), the tired few were enthralled as a hot air balloon company pulled up and unpacked right next to us making us want to stay back even longer than planned and just like all our pre-show worries once set it up it simply drifted away.
We were thrilled to have support this year from Porsche Centre Teesside they gave this year's show a great fresh look and lifted the event to a whole new level with their professionalism and display, I am told by Ross his team had a great time too. The winning bid for the prize to win a 911 for a weekend will be revealed later today and I will publish it as soon as I know.
Another new trade attendee was David from DDB Valeting alongside our R3 show regulars Lloyd's Bodyshop all of which donated some amazing prizes to help our raffle to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance I know we can count on all their support again in the future.
I am sure you will all be very pleased to know our raffle raised £511.35 on the day so well done everybody who donated a prize or purchased a ticket.
Deb and I were also immensely proud to have not one, but two PCGB directors join us this year Rob Kellock, Club Chairman and Brendan Daley PCGB Motorsport Chairman alongside the extremely hard working and lovable Chris Sweeting, membership secretary who once again made the long journey up from the Cotswolds signing up seven new R3 members on the day again showing just how much support we now have as a Region from PCGB HQ.
Finally I would like to especially thank John Hawkins and his guys from Specialist Cars of Malton who not only judged our concours competition but who also kindly sponsored our visitor class trophies. John not only gives up his time for us here in R3 but many other PCGB events throughout the year and is a great supporter of the Club. I for one can not thank him enough for the fantastic support he continues to show us in our Region year on year.
