Regional Specialists

Guys, I'd like to try and get a list of regional specialists together for us. Those who sell and service Porsche's and those who just give good service, like any decent independent tyre fitters, parts, bodyshops etc.

Want to post some suggestions or PM me ? I don't mind building a database. I'm particularly after a good independent tyre co after OPC quoted £1300 for new boots on the 997. BMTR are listed as a 'Pirelli Performance Centre' anyone used them ?

i started one (not on my pooter)a while ago for region 8. which i now need to update..

your area i ony know the OPCs and PCT/Autobahn

Well he is very suave (!) and wears wide-brimmed hats .... [;)]
ah that explains it then...it was the corks hanging from the rim that made me think southerly thoughts [;)][:D]

Richard at Club Autosport, round the corner from Merry Hill - been there 35 years, massively knowledgeable and helpful, great for hard-to-get bits and superb value across the board (including tyres).

BMTR who have a few depots in the Birmingham area never bothered returning my call for a cost [:'(].
I later called them and they were more expensive than some others in the area, although as you say they are a Pirelli Specialist.

Other places are Shirleys cars and Porsche tech next door.

I can highly reccomend Francis for parts too. he got some spares for me a while back at very good prices. (and he's 2 minutes around the corner!)

My choice for tyres has been to use a local supplier to buy the tyres and then get the OPC to fit them. Example for my 996 C4S = 2x225/40 Z18 Pirelli PZero Asymetrico £104 + VAT each, 2x295/30 Z18 Pirelli PZero Asymetrico £152 + VAT each. OPC fitting = £10 per tyre. Total cost £640.60. Fitting all 4 tyres in the car to get them to the OPC was a squeeze but just about doable!!

However last time I got the local supplier to supply and fit being careful to insist on the right fitter. Example - 2x295/30 Z18 Pirelli PZero Asymetrico £155 + VAT each fitted and balanced.

Porscheshop in Halesowen
CMS Porsche in Telford
Dave Griffiths Racing in Shrewsbury

I have personally dealt with all the above & would not hesitate to recommend any of them.

Yes, I too would recomment the porscheshop on mucklows hill in halesowen. Really friendly, just got on with the job and washed the car nicely! Price was very competitive for 10k service too.

I've used Martin Brown at Shirley's in Meriden for some mechanical work and he was very helpful, efficient and reasonably priced.

As far as tyres goes, I'm yet to need to replace the boots on my 924 but I have had them balanced by Plume tyres in Shirley and they managed to eradicate the vibration that had been plaguing the steering where several others had tried and failed.

I've just had my power steering pump reconditioned by Jay Gee of Wolverhampton for £95 + VAT (£350 + VAT for a new one). OPC Sutton Coldfield removed it, took it over, collected it and refitted & only charged me £48 or the labour. Pretty good customer service I reckon especially as I wasn't actually buying the part from them[;)] But I'm a regular there & they look after their customers

Porscheshop mentioned in this thread wanted £149 + VAT for a recon pump (probably done at the same place!) + £120 for fitting, which I thought was a joke...

Hi all,

Does anybody know if CMS Porsche, Telford carry out repairs to 944's, or are they just breakers ?
I need fuel lines replacing and want an experienced mechanic to carry the work out.
I was considering Porscheshop Halesowen as I thought that was the closest Porsche Independant to Telford.
Any advice or information would be most welcome. (Need to stop the petrol dripping.....and quick !)
Cheers

Andy
