Register Gathering 2014

Yes Ralph it is but we can move our gathering to the following week provided it doesn't clash with too much else, at that time of year we are about mid point between school summer holidays and half term so we don't wish to coincide with either. We will see what response we have and if the weekend of 27/28th is prefered then we can change it.

Buddy, I think a Register National meet is a very good idea but must confess that being an outlyer geographically speaking I am unlikely to be able to attend. Do you think that Brands could be a further opportunity to get together such as that you are supporting at Le Mans? Ralph

Hi Kevan, If to avoid the BH weekend, would the Register Rendevous event the weekend before help you? I know it is not located in Yorkshire, but Warwickshire may be more accessible to all? Just a thought in case you were not aware... Kind regards Alan

Last year we had a visit to CG where we had a good talk and demonstration from Chris and Pete, also we had the register trip to the Porsche Factory and museum in Stuttgart for this year however I would like to set up a gathering where the Cayman register can get together sometime during late September and for several reasons I feel it would be good for us to place the venue towards the north around Yorkshire, not as central as Derbyshire I admit but Yorkshire does have some good driving roads and members to the north may well feel that most events have previously taken place more to the south.

I propose that it will basically be a social gathering at a country hotel or if more prefer then a meeting at a country pub for just the one day and I would appreciate it if anyone knows of a good venue with good parking, good food etc, personal recommendations carry more than any hotels publicity.

I had considered possibly basing this on York or other centres as there are points of interest there but think that a country venue is more tempting for such a gathering also if some wish to avail themselves of the sites of the towns and cities they are free to do so as part of their travel arrangements.

I'll set the date as the weekend of 20th/21st September, if members do not wish a hotel stay then maybe as Is tated above we will meet for a lunchtime gathering either day.

Hi These dates in September are when other events are on at weekends if that help people out. 7th September - Porsche Classic at the Castle - Castle Hedingham in Essex - Suffolk. 12th, 13th & 14th September Goodwood Revival. 20th & 21st September Porsche Club meeting at Brands Hatch. 27th & 28th September None that I know of. Yours sincerely Kevin.

Thanks all, while I didn't know of all the events Kevin has mentioned I intend to be at the Register day on the previous weekend in September with flag etc, the Porsche Pageant at Chatsworth in June and Porsches on the Prom in May, I asked for others to make Le Mans a register event but so far as I know only one has told Lycian that he is with the Cayman Register, while I can understand people going with friends from their region I have asked Lycian to put all Registers and regions together a suggestion which went well with the other groups and so PCGB will have an overall presence for Porsches return. For many the southern venues are a long trek even though they are excellent events and there are apparently three in September ( I didn't know of Goodwood ) I have no objection to moving it a week or two later so long as we do not move it so far as the school midterm holiday. Please remember that we do have the Porsche Pageant at Chatsworth in Derbyshire and so that is central, where we have separate parking with our own line up and the Register day at Banbury in Warwickshire where again we will have our own parking and line up and as Alan says that counts as our register day. The idea of this gathering being to the north is to redress the imbalance to a small degree since we do have members in Northumbria, Cumbria and Scotland some of who would like to get together with members from other regions but many events are out of reach for a weekend trip.

Unfortunately Kevan, I'm on holiday from 20th - 28th September so wouldn't be able to attend. However, I've notified Narinder that I'll be attending the Upton House "Register" event, so I'll look forward to seeing everyone there. Hopefully the weather will be as good as it was for Calke Abbey. As ever, so many Club activities are crammed into the limited number of summer weekends that clashes are inevitable. Jeff
