Register to Le Mans for 24Hr

I'm hoping that Lycian will have something like their Village on the Curves for the Classic next year - Stephen was not quite able to get everything in place for last year. If they do, we will be going, as their facilities for the 24 hour were superb.

Porsche will have their factory team at Le Mans for the 24 hr for the first time since 1998 and the Classic is bi-annual and so it falls that next summer will see both events take place.[:D][:D]

I'm planning on attending both but as for most it is a case of one or t'other so which would get the most for a register trip? This is just the first pass so if I can get a quick indication I will also investigate posh camping and get some costs together. No doubt they will want to know and take early deposits so if you are doubtful be aware that deposits placed with the companies will probably be lost if you drop out.[&o]

I do not propose to handle anyone's cash myself but will advise on crossings if independently booked and whatever packages I can find.

An early indication of the numbers will be appreciated.[;)]

If the response is slow then I will attend but make alternative arrangements for a register event.

For those who would have liked to join us on the Porsche Museum trip this year, you missed a very enjoyable event, speeds with the Cayman S's were in excess of 150mph and I'm sure that the 2.7's were travelling pretty rapidly too.[8|]

So, form two lines, Classic or 24Hr?

Kevan, Why don't you guys join us for the 24H (see link below): [link=http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=776467] Le Mans 2014 - The Return of Porsche to LMP1[/link] Ed and I will be there and we are already up to 16 club members many of which are 'Camping' veterans. By all means take some other reference points.

Hi, Stephen has been in touch and can do both the Classic and the 24 Hr so I'm waiting for some quick response from the register members, although I may well book for myself very soon. I think that Lycian are the way for us to go as they can run it and book directly. But will reigster members please get in touch with me if they wish to have a groups area.

It would be good to group all the PCGB groups together, I know Stephen and Joy have done this for us in the past. This is done near close to the event when the final size of groups is known.

OK, I've placed my booking with Joy at Lycian for the village on the curves as Cayman Register, ( this is for the 24hr ) other PCGB groups are also there and so far are to be grouped together, all you need to do to be with the Cayman Register is to contact Joy and book in as Cayman Register, she will organise everything from there on in. I expect that if you wish to be amongst your region then it would be likewise.[:D] See you there![:D][:D]

Awesome Kevan ..... it's going to be a good sized group at the curves ..... we need to be bigger than the Porsche Club America group based there, can't have the US claiming they are bigger than us.

I was at the Club Officials Conference on Saturday and Lycian had a stall there, Joy told me that no one else has booked for Le Mans as Cayman Register, they also said that due to the Porsche factory team's return to Le Mans and Webber taking a drive they are running out of space and don't expect to have pitches available for late bookings such as January. Remember to say you are from Cayman Register when you book through Lycian events

Just noticed this thread, have already booked with Joy at Lycian, so will try and get a pitch with you guys. Will be in a 997 GT3 with fellow Club member,

I currently have no idea how many Cayman Reg members are booked in with Lycian as members haven't tended to identify themselves as such when booking, so if you wish to camp with registers, regions or just as club members inform Joyce as they have already agreed to have all PCGB campers situated together. See you there.[:D]

Hi Kevan, just for info, my girlfriend and i will be at the CURVES, we will be driving down there on the Thursday and returning home Monday. Look forward to meeting up[:)]

Glad to hear someone else from the register is going to be there, did you tell Joy that you are Cayman Register? I do know of other register members arer going but they're tending to join their regional groups. Not that it matters since all PCGB groups are to be located together. I'll be seeing Joy soon so I'll check on numbers of Cayman register members.

As plans are now coming into closer focus for those going to Le Mans this year, I will be meeting up with my passenger and heading for the tunnel for the late morning crossing on the Thursday, about 4 hrs drive to Le Mans so arriving around 4-5pm local time, my son and his girlfriend will be crossing a little earlier with his Boxster S as he will be driving in France for his first time so I hope her map reading is good. Maybe I'll meet up with some of you on route and definitely at the curves, I will be carrying screen badges for those who want them.

Should be a great race this year. Have fun, but be aware that the French police have recently heavily invested in extra unmarked cars, and will be looking for the English Le Mans fans to pay for them! I understand that the current on the spot fines are a reasonable £56 for up to 12 mph over the limit, rising to £3100 (aaaaaarghhh!) for those caught at above 31mph over the limit… Easily done in Porsches.

Yes Kevan, Joy knows im on the Cayman register[;)] Hoping to be at the Curves approx 3-4pm, see you there.

Paul, are you going? I think you have time so no excuse! In France we all need to remember to take breathalyzers, reflective vests ( inside the vehicle ) and GB stickers. No doubt other things will apply too, in some countries for instance FM transmitters are disallowed such as we may use for music from MP3 transmitted to the radio. Looking forward to meeting up with any Porsche fans there

Hi Kev, I'm afraid that although I have the time to be there I have the attention span of a gnat, and would have forgotten why I came by the end of a 24 hour race. I much prefer club racing from 10 lappers to 30 min max. duration. The last time I was in France I was stopped for speeding, but a very nice policewoman kindly let me off with a warning. That said I still feel my name is in the naughty book over there! Paul

Paul, it's almost as much a party as a race, bottle walls, BBQ's and a lot of socialising. Some of the time we even watch some racing![:D]
