Reliable 964 dealers

Could anyone give some advice/names of reliable dealers for a 964 either in London or 1-2 hours away.

The two that come immediately to mind are 911Virgin and Roly Baldwin at Eporsch. Both are known to have 964s from time to time although as the cars get older their appearances seem to get fewer. I think both have one or two at the moment.

Another possibility is Ray Northway, but I don't think he has any 964s at the moment. All I can suggest is that you give Autotrader and Pistonheads a good look on a regular basis.

I agree with Dave.

I have not seen many 964's for sale recently yet more potential buyers.

Also, let folks on this forum know if you are looking for anything specific as often we get requests from folks wanting to sell their cars etc.

I see you want a London dealer but for anyone in the Northwest looking for a 964 it's worth giving Marcus at Autoperform a bell. Aswell as selling used Porsches, Marcus races a C2 in the PCGB championship so knows a thing or two about them.

Thank you to everyone for your help. Now I'm going to make some silly questions as this is going to be my first Porsche (I had a Subaru 3.0 but always wanted a 911/964, and lucky enough my wife loves speed, she preferred a bike but the car will fit we both)... here they go:

Is it realistic to expect something good for £14k?

Has someone ever used the "Porsche finder service" provided by Peter Morgan? Is it worth of it?

Any other comment about any issue is very wellcome.

Thank you

Speak to Lawrence McGovern of Chelsea Carrera 07801304876.
I bought a 1993C4 cabrio from him last month in great order and there were 3 other 964s in the garage.
He's a real air-cooled enthusiast.

Additionally he is just rebuilding the engine of a 1992 car with tidy interior and has had a recent full repaint after vandalism. It's midnight blue and dark blue leather. 'Almost' perfect, but for the 190,000km on the clock, though the rebuild is only due to oil leaks, not problems.....this will be £14k when finished.
Also, there's a RHD 1990 C4 cabrio available from another forum member, Dick Jones. It had an 11000gbp rebuild last year an is close to mechanical perfection (dark blue with cashmere leather). I can give contact details if required.......price is around the 10-11K GBP (I'd buy this car if LHD !!!)
Don't discount the C4s because of what you read.....there's little difference in normal driving conditions to a C2 and in the rain, the C4 has a HUGE advantage (on the track, my C4 beat a 993C2 last weekend [:D]).

Get someone who knows 964s to inspect the car before you buy. A good car can still cost 1000gbp to make everything correct.

Best Rs,

Jon

The problem I see with the Porsche finder services is that you give them a spec and they go and find it but if you decide you don't like the particular one they find (which meets your spec), you'll still have to pay them if you turn the car down.

Some nice suggestions by Jon above that confirm that £14K is indeed a good budget for a tidy 964.

P.s. Jon - are you sure it wasn't the skill of the driver rather than the number of driven wheels? [;)]

Jon,

Could you kindly provide me with the contact details for Dick Jones, I searched him as a forum user but couldn't find him.

Thank you

Fernando

Fernando,

You'll get him if you post a message on the 964 Yahoo Group. It's a great place to join if you are interested in 964s and there are currently close to 600 members worldwide.

I also know of a very nice Cobalt Blue C4 which is about to come to the market.

Dave
