REMAP, EXHUAST, AIR INDUCTION?

Am looking to upgrade the hp of my boxster s in the near future, what would be your recommendations/experiences of this?

I can get another 20hp with a remap but will this shorten the engine life and put more stress on the clutch and flywheel, I have remapped my audi and had brilliant results, and for around £300 seems the cheapest and most effective option as a start any thoughts?

My thoughts were to look at the exhuast system and air intake as the next step!

You might make 20bhp more but at what revs? Lots of remaps extend the red line so you're not going to get 20bhp more where you need it most I.e. mid range.

With a good exhaust , filter and remap you might get 25bhp but you've spent £1300 which isn't exactly good value.

Engine wear will depend on how good the remap is - £300 seems a bit too cheap to me.
 
Depending on the mileage of your car I would suggest money is better spent on reconditioning your suspension with urethane bushes, getting the wheels aligned and a good set of tyres if yours are ropey. This will give you better driving on the twisty roads where a Boxster is fun and allow you to use the engine you have got better. Do you really find you are regularly 20BHP short of power in a Boxster S on modern roads in a straight line, or in overtaking situations?
 
I recall a few years ago a Porsche rolling road day at Silverstone - the best 986S on the day was a 2002 (5 yr old at the time) with a supersprint exhaust. That made about 262bhp, where others of similar vintage were around 250-255. Not much extra for £1300 of exhaust, but it did sound lovely !!

Suspension renewal and a geometry set-up by Centre Gravuity would do wonders for the car, and your confidence in driving it.

Without sounding patronising i'd also consider advanced driving tuition, by far the best optional extra i ever got for any car - John Cave at drivetrain was fantastic.
