remote control problems

Try turning the battery in the remote the opposite way around - it doesnt reverse the polarity all it actually does is make the positive and negative connections on the circuit board one complete circuit - this has the effect of zeroing the electronics - then simply put the battery the correct way around and try again - I assume you have checked that the battery is "Good"
You will most likely need to get a new remote - about £140 with the programming, takes 15 minutes and good for a few years
I've had the same issue on my 986 S. Unlike the 987's, the 986 dissasociate themsleves with the key after 5 days. You need to manually open the car with the key then the two alarms sound and you reset it by pressing the main button on the key.
It has happened to me once before inside the 5 days and I simply had to open the car with the key, let the alarm sound and then reset it with the button.
Hope you get into it soon!!
Cheers,
Lee
Simply put, to save the battery after 5 days it turns off the radio sensors that are "looking" for the remote.
You don't need to let the alarm go off:
Put key in door.
Turn it to unlock the car and "wake" up the systems.
Do not open door.
Press "lock/unlock" button on key to turn alarm off.
Carry on as normal.
Simples.[
