Remote locking - Help!!!!!!!!!

Just spent a relatively productive few hours changing the drivers door handle. Put everything back together and everything works OK except the remote central locking (linked to the alarm). For some reason the alarm will now only arm itself without locking the doors, although it will open the doors when disarmed (after I've locked the doors using the key). Also the red LED's on the door pins have stopped flashing. A couple of things struck me as possible causes:

  • whilst working on the door the lock pin got pushed down - if ths occured after the micro switch was removed would that cause a problem? e.g. throw things out of sync.?
  • when I changed the lock barrel over have I mis-aligned the collar that activates the micro-switch?
What puzzles me is that the central locking works OK with the key in the drivers door (but with no LED's) and the alarm will unlock the doors OK its just the locking part that's gone wrong somewhere.

Any help would be appreciated .

The simplest thing to try is to give the alarm a good old fashioned hardware reset. It's possible that your work on the central locking could have confused it somewhere along the line, so it's worth a go before you start pulling your doors to bits again.

Disconnect the battery, count to some suitable sized number (30 or 60 is usually a good choice) and then reconnect the battery.

Remember to check that you have the code for your radio before you do it though, otherwise you might end up with a non working alarm AND stereo [:)]

thanks for that. Since yesterday I've managed to get the tell tales in the door pins working - it's a case of fiddling with the key in the lock. Also noticed that the key seems to travel a long way to engage the locks but not very far to disengage - all of which makes me think I've mis-aligned the ring that operates the micro switch - sounds like a job for warmer weather!
