removal of front bumber

I need to remove my front bumper off of my 924. does anyone know how to do this? i assume there will be bolts under the 2 black rubber gueards? not sure and don't want to damage my car in the process
 
its very simple really, but if you can get your self a second pair of hands this will help with the final removal. There are only two main bolts which hold the bumper on, but dont forget the fog and indicators. If you intend to complely remove the bumper then it is easier to take out the fogs and indicators before. Also the washer jets can be a little difficult to get to sometimes. The main bolts are situated at the base os the rubber bump stops carnt remember the size of bolt. The first time i took off my bumper it took the hole morning, but it was a good excercise as i cleaned the indicators and repainted the backs of the fogs.

Before replacing the bolts, give them a good cleaning (wire wheel rather then just a wipe with a rag). Plenty of copperslip on them and screw them into their nuts a couple of times. Wipe the brackets with an oily rag. More copperslip on the bolts when finally fitting the bumper back on. In fact copperslip all the little screws for the lights and indicators. It will make their removal to replace bulbs etc much easier in the future.

Copperslip is fantastic stuff. Virtually every thread gets the treatment on the grounds that "It might be me that has to undo it again". I once took all the wings and running boards off a trials Beetle during a rebuild and naturally used copperslip on all the fixings. Some 10 years later a local bodyshop was commisioned by a subsequent owner to do a full re-spray. The comment from the mechanic who knew I had once owned the car :- "Every single bolt came out as if it was assembled yesterday, not a trace of rust or seizing on any of them".
About the only thing I don't use it on - the bolts that hold brake calipers to the uprights.
I always use it on sparkplug threads in alloy heads and have done for 35 years but the other day I read "Do not use copper grease on plug threads". Very odd ??
 
agreed!! never used to beother with the stuff, but since my last 924 built 6 years ago, everything I've done on any car no matter what its age I used it as a matter of course, even when doing the brakes on the wifes Rover, cause I know it'll be me taking those bolts of again the next time!!!
