Removal of luggage compartment carpet

I thought I would try Maurice's fan test but sadly fell at the first hurdle - the luggage compartment carpet. It appears to be held in by press studs along the top edge but having pulled at them fairly hard I could see myself pulling them through the carpet. Are they simple press studs or are they something a little more technical? I would prefer to appear stupid than damage the carpet - hence this post!.

Hi

there are three press studs at the windscreen edge of the carpet - one in the centre and one to each side. Yours must be better quality than mine, because I've had to replace them after the old ones went weak and allowed the carpet to come undone!

Hope this helps.

Oliver

Thanks Maurice and Oliver. It is the first thing on this weekend's list of things to do.. or shall I just drive it instead?!

Take the drive instead - there's plenty of naff weather in England that'll give you time for the 'small jobs'!

As a slight aside, I've also replaced the Velcro fastners that secure the sides of the carpet to the inner wings. Call me anal, but are Velcro fastners a Porsche way of watching the pennies???? I replaced them with press studs, so now the carpet doesn't come loose and flop about all the time. For anyone interested, the job takes about half an hour and the kit to do it can be found at:

Thanks Oliver, unfortunately I did the fan test first and having found the low speed oil cooler setting is faulty I am now reluctant to drive any distance when the weather is hot. Must get it fixed asap so I can get back on the road.

Thanks also for the info on press studs. I think I will invest in one as one of my studs has broken.
