Removal Of Scratches!!!

Can anyone help - my silver (52) Boxster S has "developed" 2 scratcheson the front and rear wings!!

Being realistic it looks like the job of a vandals key, but how knows??
They definately won't polish out and I'm gutted.

Has anyone had any experience of this before and who are the best people to talk to about getting it fixed, both with price and quality of work?

Need to put a smile back on my face and not dent the wallet too much.

Depending on the size and severity of the scratches, might your local "Chipsaway" franchise be able to assist, without breaking the bank?
Just a thought. [:D]

You should be able to get a decent job done for around £250 an end. That's based on quotes that I have had for repairing the damage to my rear PSU after suffering a major lack of talent whilst reversing into a pile of breeze blocks.

JCB..

Try Chipsaway my local man (London) is a genius and artist on these type of repairs .... 01562 825599 or www.chipsaway.co.uk

Thanks for you info re: Chipsaway.
Unfortunately because the damage is across 3 panels and its silver they wont touch it!! So the hunt continues. This is starting to sound exspensive.

I think I might try Chipsaway as well. My front is also lightly scratched, my OPC (Staples Corner, N.London) brought in Solus (who do their bodywork) to give me a quote. Needless to say, they quoted for a complete sand down and repaint of the entire bumper including rewiring and asked £780. Absurd! This link is great for a DIY job http://www.carcareonline.com/viewarticle.aspx?art=8. Good luck

Rodney I can personally highly recommend my Chipsaway guy who covers North London as I live there too. As a car nut, past concours entrant for more years than I care to admit too my standards are very high and whilst a Chipsaway repair may not always be 100% as good as a full respray it comes extremely close and on PU's that are always going to be chipped etc 99% is good enough for a fussy git like moi [;)]

Excellent. Thanks a lot daro911 99% will do for me! I'm definately going to be calling them in the Spring sometime when I will get all the repairs done to my car. Where do you get your car serviced, I highly recommend OPC Staples Corner if you need an OPC, they've always done a good job for me. Do you have any experience of any specialists in the area I might go to when I need minor work done?

I will probably use OPC Staples Corner when my first service is due in March 04.

My car came from East London OPC but I don't read very good reports on them and I imagine all London OPC's are within £'s of each other on the fixed price stuff but I will be supplying my own cheap Costco Mobil 1 [8D]

I have no experience of specialists but do read good things about J Z Machtech
Regards .. Robert

I've also read only good things about Maztech. I guess I'll take my business there. Before you go in for your service, make enquiries as to how much a full set of tyres will cost you. Try http://www.mytyres.co.uk/ If they tell you you'll need a full set of replacements, you'll aready know if they offer you a good deal or not. When they told me I needed 4 new tyres, I told them I'd do it, then subsequently found out their price wasn't very different to mytyres, and probably should have got my OPC to replace them.
