Removal of Window Frames

I' d like to replace the front quarterlight glass on my car, and wonder if, to remove the black window frame, I need to remove the trim from the door or not. I' ve located all the door fixings etc, so can' t quite work out why the trim panel needs to come off

Also, how to remove the metal, black anodized seperator between the qtrlight and the main drop window ? - just the 2 screws @ the frame top removed then lift out ???

Appreciate

Steve

PS - how to remove a bonnet badge without the use of a nuclear missile ? Mine won' t budge, and I know it;s been removed in the last 12months.....(but not by me)

Hi Steve,
I had the same problem with the bonnet badge on Sunday. So, I got a piece of fishing line, 2kg breaking strain to be exact, and used it like a piece of cheese wire arond the badge. The made it lose but still it would not budge. So after playing with the two spigots on the inside of the bonnet I found that the badge was fitted without the clips to hold it in place. What had been done by the previous owner was to bend the spigots towards each other. Thus meaning the holding clips were not required. Very cleaver and a very tight fit too. So I did the same. It means that the need for very long nosed pliers is not required , just a screw driver.
Hope this helps.

No chance with the cheesewire routine. My badge has those horrible little interference clips on it...send in the scuds methinks.

Well, polish has become entrapped in the raised edges of the Emblem.. so to reduce the C of G and reduce weight (as you correctly point out) I' ve purchased a new bonnet badge.

You Americans just don' t get it do you...

Steve - Bentley says you do remove the door trim to remove the quarter lights.

There' s not a lot in Bentley on window removal but if you want to borrow mine your welcome.

If you do then give me a call on 07961 420817.

Don' t know if they are the same doors, but the attachment is from the 3.2 Carrera service manual.

I have removed my front quarter light, and it did involve the removal of the door panel - which wasn' t fun, when the hardboard is decaying!

PS if you need a higher resolution picture, let me know.
