Removing front seats

I've tried this afternoon to remove the drivers side electric seat in my cab so that i can check the condition of the base underneath as it's started to drop slightly.
I've removed 4 large allen head bolts from each end of the runners but the seat still wont lift out at all.
Are there any more bolts lurking around that i've missed?I know my old 924 seats were only held in with 4 but i can't see any more in the cab and the PET cd is about as useful as a chocolate fireplace!
Why is it what you think are the "easy" jobs nearly end up driving you to drink!

There's 6 bolts on the runners - can't remember if it's two at the front or back, but other than that they should lift out (remember to disconnect the electrics as well!)

Thanks for the info carl, just found the other two tucked a bit further in on the rear of the runners.
Found the problem - the sponge base is just starting to tear down over the springs - nice little repair job for tomorrow now.

Carl got there first on the extra 2 bolts, but you can buy a new foam base from Porsche. If you have sport seats it might be tricky to get one (and it's actally a 928 part) as Adrian told me I got the last one. That was over a year ago though, and I think Southbound keep some also. It was about £100+VAT and not too bad a job to fit if you use cable ties insead of hog rings to reassemble. I also swapped the backrests across at the same time to present a totally unworn passenger inner bolster to the part that gets most wear.

Yep, IIRC it's slide right forward to uncover the four at the back.

You could be lucky and find a stash of lost coins, or - as I did - find the heads full of 20-years worth of opal fruits and armpit hair [:'(][:'(]

Then it's just a case of elastoplast over the knuckles [:(]

Sorry to divert off topic a little, but does anyone know if replacement cables for the electric seat lifters are available from anywhere? The cable driving the right rear lifter on mine has frayed and jammed itself inside the plastic sheath. Appears non repairable so without a replacement i'm stuck!

Yes - your local OPC.

I got one last year for circa £25 IIRC

Porscheapart may also be able to help with a S/H one for less. Be sure to know which cable you need, they are different sizes depending on front or rear lifter and which side of the seat [&:]

Looks like it's one very clean split in the foam straight across the base which i think i'll be able to do a temp fix on until a new foam base is found.
Am i right in assuming the electrical cable that goes into the seatbelt clasp is an "earth" or is it part of an alarm to tell you if you haven't belted up before you drive off?

The strangest find when I removed my carpets was a Playmobile figure underneath the carpet. I have no idea how it got there!
Just a tip when you stick the seats back in - don't tighten any of the bolts up - stick all six in, and then tighten - otherwise you may struggle to get them all in (not that I had that problem of course [;)])

The cable is for the seatbelt light on the dash.
Fen, is it just the drivers side that lights the dash or passenger side belt too?
I'm going to have a sniff around to see if i can get it working.

Me neither, and I've certainly not done it EVERY time I've bolted my buckets in and out saying 'next time I'll remember not to tighten them up until they are all in place' [:D]
