Removing front seats?

How do i go about removing the driver & passenger seat? Is it fairly straight forward? (i'm guessing probably not!)

I am getting the hard backs 'tarted' up as they have become a little tatty, but they want the seats out and dropped off! Need them for a few days. I was thinking of doing the passenger side first so i can still use the vehicle in the meantime. Then give them the drivers seat. I guess you are not able to swap the seats over from Drivers to Passenger so i will be without the car for a day or two?

Thanks

Its very straightforward.

I had to do it to dry out my carpets following blocked drain holes.

You need to unbolt the bolts that hold it to the floor. They are 6 sided, but I did mange it with a conventional socket.

The only other thing you will need to do is disconnect the wiring for the seats, which is a block connector easily accessible after you have unbolted the runners.

The only other thing you will need to do is then collect the pile of coins that will have made their way under there!

Good luck.

Thanks for that, one thing was mentioned that when you remove seat the airbag light comes on, did it? Was that a problem?

I had the driver's side seat out a couple of times, and no airbag light. The socket you need is an E12 Torx socket. The connector is a bit fiddly, as you have a slide arrangement that separates the plug and socket. Easy when you know how. Just pull at the side of the connector, and it all becomes obvious.

If you are worried about the airbag light, disconnect the battery a few minutes before starting work, and don't reconnect it until you are finished. I'm not sure it is necessary on UK cars, but better to be safe than sorry, I guess. When you disconnect the battery, switch on the ignition, but don't start the engine. Turn off all loads you can (radio, aircon, etc). Leave the key in that position, and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. This stops the alarm siren from sounding. Make sure you have the radio code, if your radio needs one. (CDR23 and PCM2.0 do not).

Edit: Bear in mind that you can't lock the passenger door with the battery disconnected - and don't shut the front boot!

Thanks Richard, i will give it a go. What could possibly go wrong! [8|]

Do you know if you can swap drivers with passenger and the other way round or are the runners built differently?
