removing hatch

I'm trying to replace my rear hatch (thanks random hero, made it home in one piece just can't get it back out[:eek:]). I've done everything I should, heater wires, struts, bolts - but can't see how to undo the rear wiper cable - it goes into a gromet on the rear pillar - were does it connect - how will it pull back through when I fit the new one? Do I have to take the internal trim out. That looks very difficult and I'm sure I rip loads of it....
 
944 man - thanks - I pulled out the gromet and the cable drops down insdie pillar - is the connector handy anywhere? The cable won't pull too far - an inch.
 
Nice to meet you today colin ,im glad the hatch made it home in one piece.I seem to remember if you take the carpet side trim out the plug(white/round) is there somewhere !!
