Removing hubcap from Cup Alloys

Anyone know the best way to do this - screwdriver and prise off seems like it is going to damage alloy or cap - do I have to remove the wheel or does someone know a cunning tip?

If they are of the plastic variety they will have two holes in the face - find a small pointy thing that will fit in the hole and ease them off - there is a neat little right angle tool that works well but I don't know what it is called!

If they are alloy centres then I believe that there are little grub screws in the side that hold them in place but sadly I think the wheels need to come off to give access to the grub screws.

Good luck

Not quite what I had in mind but no doubt a small one would work just as well!

I have seen the engineers use something that looks, I grant you, a whole lot like an allen key but it has a point for ease of entry!

That would be a 'scriber' then.

Either of the above tools work as well as each other as long as the caps have the holes in them.
If not its the wheels off and tap from the inside [:D]

You can get a special tool - it looks like a bit of bent coathanger with the 2 ends spaced to fit the 2 holes in the hubcaps.

...hold on - there's an idea[:D]

Cheers all - looks like a wheels off weekend job not for a wet Thursday night in the dark then!
