Removing side repeaters?

After loving the look of my new clear indicators, I've bought some clear repeaters to go with them.

Just wondering how I go about removing the old ones without damaging the paint or the lights?

Do I need access to the rear of the lights, ie. removing the wheelarch liners, or can I do it from the outside?

They clip in, but they usually break when theyre removed, so gently pulling may get them out with the least trouble.

Awattam - Im looking for a set of these too. Where did you get them from and how much were they? I have replaced them in the past on a 968. You have to be really careful and gently pull them. Look at your clear ones to see how the original ones are fitted.

Just bought mine from ebay, they're not here yet so I can't vouch for the quality but they're these ones.....[link=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120428389130&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT]http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120428389130&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT[/link] They were just the cheapest ones there when I searched for 944 repeaters, although reading the advert now they seem to be the same as are fitted to lots of VWs and Audis so a search along those lines may yield some cheaper ones. How do you get hold of them to pull them? Is it a case of very careful levering with a screwdriver? Edit: There are cheaper ones listed for MK2 golfs so have a search and save yourself a couple of quid. Damn, wish I'd have thought of that earlier! Going to get some of the silver bulbs for them too, save the orange ones showing up through the clear.

I just did mine as well it's a realy nice touch and gives the car a more modern look. Got them off ebay also. About £14 + p+p for the lenses and bulbs. Bargain I thought.

If you already have the new ones you should be able to see that there is a 'peg' on the back of the unit next to the bulb holder, this locates into a hole in the wing & to get the old one out you need to (carefully) prise the front away from the wing enough to get that peg out of the hole, then slide the unit toward the front of the car to release the clip (the part that usually breaks). I've only done it on a wing off the car but you should be able to do it without accessing the inside of the wing easily enough, just make sure you don't let the wire fall back inside the car [:D]
