Removing The CD trays

I want to install a Harmon Kardon iPod interface unit and intend to make a panel to replace the CD trays in the centre console to hold the display and controls. Looking at the CD trays they must clip out but I wondered how. I thought I would ask before pulling it about and breaking a vital plastic clip or something more drastic.

Yeh, as richard says just press all the trays so they all come out and just pull the whole thing, it then comes out with no damage

Thanks for the advice guys. Does just pulling bring out only the CD trays or the whole panel? If the whole panel doesn't come out, how do you get it out when the trays are removed? I have seen some photos of the assembly pulled out so can picture it in my mind. I just don't want to break any little plastic clips that will result in something daft like a whole centre console being needed. I am finding the Boxster very different to the 944 where things were screwed in, if you pulled it and it didn't move look for a screw.

The whole assembly of the trays in their carrier comes out in one piece. Edit: Item 13 in the pic.

Been very busy and only just got out to my Boxster today. Indeed, the trays just pull out nicely. I have my Harmon Kardon Drive and Play unit ready to install. Just need some time now and some nice weather to clean and polish my new pride and joy.

I hope to run a thread about installing the Harmon Kardon unit with some pictures.

I wouldn't mind one of the CD Storage Units. Anyone know where to get them?

I presume it just fits in in place of the cubby hole.

I've got one I took out of mine. I'd be pleased to see it go to a good home rather than gathering dust in the garage. Email me your address and I'll pop it in the post.

Edit: Spent an hour scouring the garage to no avail. I'll look again at the weekend and email you if I find it.

Richard - I'll buy the cubby hole one if you want to sell it once you have the CD holder. I've got a tape holder in mine!

Thanks

Richard
