A while back I renewed the offside front wing on my SC - well I actually I didn't carry out the job, but my restorer did. He pointed out to me the rather interesting point about the oil cooler which is tucked away under the wing.
The wing, of course, was showing the tell-tale signs of rust, hence the need for replacement. The oil cooler sits on a tray and is bolted top and bottom. In my particular case, the bolts both top and bottom had rusted competed and the cooler was left totally disconnected, apart from the oil pipes. This struck us as somewhat dangerous if it was possible for the cooler to drop off the tray at speed.
I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this, but it may be worth watching out for as those old wings get rustier?
