Rennlist-inspired 964 meeting on Sept 28th

As many of you already know the Rennlist forum organises 964 meetings from time to time both in the South East and Midlands thus far. The South East Group have been deprived of their habitual meeting place for some months since Raymond Turner gave up the hostelry at Worcester Park.

However, I'm pleased to inform you that we have a new meeting place at the Windmill Inn on the A30 near Windlesham, Surrey and we have a meeting scheduled for Sunday 28th September. That day happens also to coincide with the 911 & Porsche World picnic being held at Wellington Country Park near Reading and it is our intention to have a short hoon over there once we have gathered at the Windmill. The picnic is £5/head and it's likely that there will be a huge number of Porsches there.

The full address of the Windmill is:
London Road
Windlesham
Surrey
GU20 6PJ

Tel: 01276 489297

The plan is to meet there for around 10:30 - 11:00 and to get over to the picnic for around 1:00-2:00.

Some of you may also remember that last year we had a meeting at the Crooked Billet near Aylesbury and we had a great convoy snaking up the A41 from the M25. The pub is under new management now and they have agreed to our meetings there and they are now open from 7:30 on a Sunday morning so we are contemplating a breakfast meet at some time in the future. I'll provide more details of this once we have a firm date.

Looking forward to seeing a good turnout on the 28th.

Regards

Dave

Hello Dave

I've been waiting for a suitable event to arrive in order to come along and introduce myself and this looks like the one! Do we need to register/pay in advance for the "Porsche Picnic" at Wellington Country Park?

Thanks, look forward to seeing you on the 28th, along with my 8 year old son who is an aspiring Porsche fan [:)]

Robin,

I have to admit to knowing very little about the 911&PW Picnic. Their web site (click here) doesn't seem to tell you much more to be honest. I don't even know if there is any food on offer - since it's called a "Picnic" you may have to take your own!!

Look forward to seeing you at the Windmill anyway.

Regards

Dave

Thanks for posting Dave, been a little busy of late, and it's good to know I can rely on you.

Regards

Kevin.

Info from September's issue of 911&PW...

911 & Porsche World Picnic, Sept 28, Wellington Country Park, nr Reading

- A strictly laid back affair, no concours, no model-by-model parking.
- £5 admission, entry from 10am
- Top Six Awards
- Free trade stand space for 911&PW advertisers
- Free autojumble
- Food Stalls
- Commentary and music

Also sharing the venue with 911&PW's sister magazine UltraVW so there'll be lots of aircooled VWs to check out too, dude...

Just a quick bump as a reminder that this meeting is taking place NEXT Sunday - the 28th September. The long range weather forecast is looking promising so don't use the excuse that it might rain!!

Looking forward to a good number of cars - and, don't forget, we plan a drive over to the 911 & Porsche World Picnic near Reading for the afternoon.

Regards

Dave

Thanks to all those who braved the early fog. It was a great turnout with a good number of new faces with special thanks to those who travelled considerable distances to get there - Matt from Birmingham and Rich from Cheltenham to mention but two. The Windmill looks good for a regular meet but we are considering alternating with Aylesbury. We're trying to find a decent location in East Anglia and if anyone knows a suitable place with decent size car park and, preferably, can handle minor catering from mid-morning on a Sunday please let Kevin or me know.

I think we managed around 20 cars and the convoy to the 911&PW Picnic was "interesting" to say the least!! The queue to get in brought back some bad memories but the event itself was pretty good although the parking was a bit haphazard.

All in all, a very enjoyable day.

Regards

Dave
