Since today was such a nice day and yesterday had been dedicated to driving the 3.2 as much as the misses would let me, I decided to renovate the cigarette lighter as its power delivery was intermittent causing the Road Angel connectivity problems.

6 hours later it's done and works a treat but my arms and back are killing me, I knew one had to take some of the ventilation plumbing out from the front cabin, but what a hell of an awkward job that was "" so for those of you planning a likewise exercise, be warned you need plenty of time, patience and flexibility in the lumber region

Fascinating that Porsche fit Cigarette Lighters.... Cigarette lighter sockets are c**p. What we should have are DIN sockets fitted. These are the sockets into which go either DIN plugs or some of the better quality dual purpose plugs that have little orange bits that you can twist and remove. In all my rally cars out come the c**p sockets straight away. Interesting that in a top of the range French car [1985 Citroen CX25 GTi Turbo] in the back between the seats is a flap under which is an ash tray, a cigarette lighter and a separate DIN socket for the back seat passengers to run mobile office equipment of the day. DIN sockets and plugs give reliable firm electrical contact for charging phones and running satnav and ICE equipment.
