Repair leather trim?

Hi everyone,

I put a load of stuff in the back of my 996 at the weekend and although I thought I'd got everything protected with blankets it looks like I've made little marks and indentations in the hard leather panel behind the passenger seat that stretches from the door to the back corner. I've tried rubbing it cant seem to get them to flatten out. I'm gutted as the leather trim is in great condition in my car.

Is there anything I can do apart from buying a new panel when I come to sell?

Cheers,
Alex

Have you tried warming them up with a hair dryer. Saw a programme on sky not so long back that did it

I have noticed that the leather in the 996 is really susceptible to marking, no matter how careful you are!

Perhaps this susceptibility increases with age...?

The only method I have found that touches indentations is, as suggested, heat.

I've never tried a hair dryer, but have found that by vigourously rubbing an area, with a soft cloth & leather cream, it does reduce such marks.

Only problem is that my wife, on seeing me, from a distance, frantically rubbing away in my cockpit, mistakes this for another kind of automotive love...:p

Try a warm iron. Perhaps put something like a teacloth between the leather and the iron to start with. It is a little known fact, but leather can be ironed. I have done this on various leather items with great success.
