Replace half electric seats with full electric ?

I've got my eye on some full electric seats - the only thing concerning me at the moment (other than the extant and still yet-to-be-finalised lifter/camshaft repair bill) about that is what the electrical connections are ?

Are the full electric seats just a drop-in replacement for the half-electric, or is there wiring harness jiggery-pokery needed ? I'm assuming that, since all that may be needed is power to the motors, the connectors may be the same. Or am I sadly deluded ?

I'd be interested in this thread too especially if memory ones can be installed! My wife and I both drive the car and we find it annoying having to adjust the seat manually because the mechanism is quite awkward to use.

Porsche tend to make it hard to retrofit options as the wiring looms are built according to the options specified on the original dealer order. Whilst some mods are straightforward such as retrofitting cruise control to later face-lifted 986s, as the physical connections are already installed, retrofitting memory seats (Options 437 and 438 - which included memory mirrors) could involve modifying the car's wiring as the connectors and control units necessary for memory seats were probably not fitted to your car.

From what I can gather from the parts lists, there are additional considerations; It looks like different motors were fitted in the mirror housings according to whether memory seats were originally fitted or not.

The option numbers label stuck on the underside of the front trunk will help you see what was fitted at the factory. I think the Seating Position Control Unit (M538) needs to be present in the car but I don't think this comes as part of the seat units. Maybe someone else can help shed some light on this for you.
