Replace Rear Seats - Which Glue To Use?

Hey All,

I'm going to replace the rear seats of my 944 this weekend (just the lower part, the upper parts fine) and have a question...

1) Does anyone know which is the glue to use and where you get it from?

I've read through the forum and there is several discussions about rear seats but no mention of which glue to use.

Spray glue will do perfectly well. Spray onto the body and leave it to dry: same for the squab. Dont breathe the fumes!

I am replacing the rear squab in the 924S this weekend with a leather covered one.Having swapped the linen carpet over to the leather backrest last weekend.I shall be using contact adhesive ,not spraymount-I use a piece of polythene to isolate the 2 parts whilst I position them correctly, then carefully pull the polythene out to get adhesion. You only need dabs of glue in certain places, not all over as the top is held by metal clips.A hotmelt glue gun can be used for awkward parts near the edges if necessary.

Ive done this literally scores of times and I think that you are making too much of a meal of it. When the cars were built the fitter drizzled a random amount of glue on and pressed the squab down. I dont believe that anything more involved is required: in many cases the original glue has retained its tack and can be used without the need to add more adhesive.

If you use more glue then try to leave the car with its windows down in a garage.I reglued my boot carpet to the side flaps and it took a couple of days for the smell to go.[:'(]

AFAIK you will have no problem using the generic automotive trim/carpet glue you can get from Halfords in spray cans. ISTR it is made by Loctite, I have a can in the shed and have used it a few times but not for a big job yet.
