Replaced Gearbod Box Mount Today

After months of vibration, knocking from the rear and bunny hops while reversing, I had my gear box mount changed this morning at JZ. When i was shown the old mount the rubber blocks inside the matel cage were so bably deteriated that the only way to descibe them was like a spung. It crumbled away leaving no surport and dampering to the gear box. The result, making the car really smooth and quiet and no more vibration when pulling at low revs. Also had the gear linkages greased up, and that made the gear shift smooth. [:)] I had changed the engine mount back in the summer.

Not really, £150 for the mount from OPC, one hour labour at £49 and two bolts £1.
And plus VAT.

I was watching the machanics work on it. (how many tea breaks???).
They lowered the gear box down and surported it on a tall jack, swaped the mount around and pushed the gearbox back up at tighten it up. It took just over an hour to do. They didn't remove the box or any other parts. I relised that what i thought was the ball joints knocking was actually the gearbox thuding on the chasis.

150 quid just for the mount? I am starting a clutch job this weekend and thought I might replace that along with the motor mounts. I better start shopping around for a price.[]

My rubber mount turned to be in fine shape so no need to buy a new one.

I am sort of curious how Andriko's mechanics got the mount and crossmember out and back in in an hour, though. I guess there must be enough clearance before the torque tube hits a cross member to get the transaxle low enough to get the mounting crossmember out of the rear. Maybe they just turned it sideways to get at the bolts holding the mount on.

It was done at JZ Machtech and there was two of them working on the car. Deffinatly an hour.
