Replaced Rear Main Oil Seal, Now Dodgy Clutch!

Has anyone had a rear main oil seal replaced by an approved Porsche garage?

I have just had mine replaced by an approved garage and now I have the car back the clutch has started to judder when driving off slowly in first gear!

The garage had denied all responsibility - obviously!!

As I don't know anything about the 997, just thought I would ask the people who know and/ or who might have encountered this before.

The car has only done a careful 20k miles and they have told me the clutch might be knackered - wasn't before I took it in.

Anyone have any advice how to proceed - Porsche UK basically told me to get lost!!

It could be that a little oil has found its way onto the plates, if this is the case the effects should wear off over a few miles

No experience of this sort of thing psk but it does rather bother me that they have such a poor attitude to your problem!
Having recently won a court case against a Porsche (non-official I might add) dealer and now with plenty of funds I was considering a trip to Reading to see what they've got. Together with the recent warranty changes I may well nip over to Beaconsfield and check out the Aston!!

I have drove the car about 250miles and it has not made any difference so far, but I will suggest that to them when I go and pick my car back up - annoyed that they just denied it was a problem and told me that some cars judder and some don't - well it didn't before they got their hands on it!

Also concearned that once I've got the car back, they will just wash their hands of it and if the problem persists..........I'm knackered!!

They have suggested they will fit a new clutch FOC, but I pay for the parts - clutch was fine before the seal repair.......

Just read your back posts, what a nightmare !, but I take it, its all worked out ok now ?

Need to change your signature now that you have won !

Surely if the OPC undertakes a repair and the job is not satifactory they are oblidged to make good

If you have alrady tried at top of chain in OPC try customer services at HQ

Something is obviously not right here

Thats what I thought.....tried Porsche UK customer services and they just stood by the OPC saying the clutch must have been worn before they did the RMS and that there is nothing the OPC could have done during the repair to cause the judder.

They just wont accept the car was fine when they took it in - they managed to spot one of my tyres needed replacing. If they thought my clutch was bad before the carried out the RMS, I'm sure they would have loved to priced for it.

Would have though if clutch was worn OPC would have spotted the fact so if faulty now by default must have been OK before they put it back in otherwise they would have told you so

By my logic their own actions prove your point

Ask them to supply the parts at cost (ie trade price to them), join the PCGB, get your 10% discount and move on. This is your best bet towards enjoying your car without a lot of aggravation and heartache. []
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Clive

Gary,
It was a bit of a nightmare but resolved now thanks. Will do a write up on it shortly, as soon as I get back from an impending golf trip to Spain!
Youy may well be able to read about the saga in the Telegraph too, they are interested and it will hopefully stop anyone else having to go through the ordeal.

Thanks Clive - it's spoilt my experience being a Porsche driver for the first time, will try and not sulk for too long................time to move on!!

Clutch judder which occurs immediately after the engine has been out can be a symptom of a loose engine mounting bolt/nut. Given the OPC don't seem to have questioned this maybe I am barking up the wrong tree though.
