Replacement Gear Stick

Hey all,

After changing my gearstick mechanism for a new one I wanted to spruce up the actual lever itself as it is well past it and has several holes developing in the leather. I noticed on ebay that a german seller is selling complete stick and gaiter with illuminated top. They look quite tastefully done and not chavvy, I was wondering if anyone here has purchased one and also if they have used any alternatives to the standard replacement leather gaitor that you can by from Prestige Parts?

Hi Dave, I purchased said gear lever which you can see pictures of on my post http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=472041. It has a real nice feel to it, although I would say it is much lighter than the original. Also, I had a bit of trouble with it vibrating in a high gear at lower revs. This I sorted with some electricians tape and some noise insulation foam. The build quality is of a high standard and although you can't see it lit in the day it looks really good at night. I changed all my instrument lights to blue leds including the air con controls (real pain in the butt) and complimented it with a red led gear lever. I'll try and post some pics of it at night. Gary,

Thanks for that I don't know how I missed your post, superb, I've just ordered one of those now myself [;)].

Was going to say if the rubber piece is not there it will probably rattle - I remember trying a boxster style one at a show that clamped to the gearstick without the rubber it rattled hideously.

PS looks good though in the pics

Well got around to fitting it today, it does away with the top rubber piece and grips the metal shaft via 3 cheesehead screws so maybe there will be some vibration.... Not been out for a test drive yet so will find out tomorrow, also the illumination appears very dim (wired it to the ashtray light feed - so it dims with the dashboard lights) the feed is definetly 12v which I tested with my meter but forgot to measure the current.....

Popped out in the dark to see if it was any better [;)] its just right in my opinion nice red glow but nothing too overpowering. Just need to sort the intermittent rattle out now, guess I just need to put some electrical tape over the top of the metal shaft to keep it nice and tight inside the knob [8|].

Tried to get a picture of the illumination but the flash lit the whole car up like it was daylight and without flash was totally dark [:'(]
