Replacement key & fob

Unfortunately when I bought my current car, it only had 1 key with it. I have just obtained a second hand key fob.
I have fitted the correct blade to operate the locks but need to have the transponder side of it and the remote zapper part programmed into the car.

Can anyone advise roughly what the local OPC is likely to charge for this job?
I know this only takes approx 15-20mins to completer with other manufacturers.

Is there a way to programme the remote zapper for the locking in withough a PWIS thingy
I'm aware that VW use to have a manual process to match these and just wondered if Porsche use a similar technology.
I know it is a dealer job for the transponder part for the imobiliser.

Cheers
Dave.

Unless you got the 24-digit bar code with the key (highly unlikely) then you won't be able to use the remote transmitter, as the code has to be entered into the alarm control module with the PIWIS. Also, once an immobiliser transponder pill has been matched to a Porsche alarm control unit, it can't be programmed to another one.

You could try going to somewhere like Timpsons and getting a new transponder pill. I believe that they may be able to code it the same as the one in your existing key. As for the remote, I'm afraid it will be useless without the bar code.

Richard, if you're able to divulge how much would the 'Design Key' from your March RR set me back bearing in mind I have no codes or anything? This sounds daft but that's one hell of a key!!

They are £85+vat - and that's just the case. You swap over the internals and blade from your own remote key. A new remote key head is £82+vat.

Thanks Richard.
At least I have the mechanical part so when i lose the only working key, it will be easy to winch onto the breakdown truck :)

Dave.

Like I said - try one of the key-cutting places to see if you can get a transponder pill. At least then you could use it as an emergency key to start the car.

Alternatively, you can buy a non-remote key cap which I think might come with the transponder. Part No: 996.538.423.01 at £21.95 +vat.
