Replacement of lambda sensor - performance improvement?

Hi

Given that our cars are knocking on for 20 years old now, has anyone had problems leading to the replacement of the lambda sensor in the exhaust?

I ask because I seem* to get slightly brisker acceleration on near-full throttle than full throttle until the engine revs are over about 5,000 rpm, and I was wondering if a slow-reacting sensor could be causing the car to be mis-fuelled at full throttle.

Any other suggestions for the cause would be welcome.

* I say "seems" because it's actually pretty difficult to tell if this is really the case, but I think there's something in it.

Had higher than average readings at last MOT so replaced the sensor. carparts4less had a Bosch one in stock for under £65 delviered so thought it was worth a shot. Car felt more lively after fitting but that could just had been psychological. Anyway for £65 and something you can replace in your driveway it made it a no brainer.

t it's worth this link takes you to the NGK site which gives their opinion.

I've just replaced mine as a precaution after getting a failed emissions test on the mot. Made no difference to the car or the subsequent emissions test.
