Replacement Radiators

I garaged my 997 for winter and set about doing a few of those maintenance jobs that Build up over the year. One was removing the front apron to have it repainted by the OPC and while that (is) being done to replace the AC radiators situated behind the front apron. On removing the AC radiators I noticed the build up of leaves and other road debris around and between the engine cooling radiators which caused some slight signs of corrosion and so decided to replace all the radiators but wanted to keep everything with OEM replacements. However while looking online for suitable replacements units I came across the following link and ordered my parts. I have to say that these are OEM replacements and while I had my doubts when quoted for the replacement costs, on arrival I can confirm they are exactly the OEM parts but at a fraction of the OEM / OPC costs. So if you are looking to do something similar and want to save yourself a lot of cost then thoroughly recommenced this supplier and delivery was free and next day service. I ordered at 16:00 one day and received them by 11:00 the next day at no cost for delivery!

I see what you mean re the prices, It's always good to know of other suppliers.
Thanks for posting.

On a related matter, does anyone know of good looking grill covers that can stop the road debris from entering the front apron openings? It certainly looks like a need for front mesh to stop the leaves and any other large debris from covering the Radiators, at least on a front grill the debris can be easily removed.

While the front is off, fit your own. See here

Aahhh Thanx for that. I will look for a mesh retailer around my area and have a go at fitting my own grills.

I (and many others) used Halfords Ripspeed black stretch grid competition mesh. ÂŁ24.99 a sheet. Looks great, resilient to impacts and does the job well.

I ordered mine from 911 design - whilst they were ÂŁ242 they come preformed and require no bonding or screwing - they clip in, and they come powder coated too, top quality item. Recommended.

+1 for Design 911.

They sell a number of different grill kits, I used the Rennline kit which requires removing the front PCU

Thanx for all the replies and advice. I only want to fit the mesh grills to the existing two side vents. My centre section it's blank by default as I have the manual C4S which doesn't have the centre radiator. So the cost of the whole kit which includes the centre grill seems overkill. Looking in the web I couldn't find any one selling only side grills, I think I will make my own but they will have to look professional for me to leave them in place after trying this out.

I'm a Porsche driver! Are you seriously suggesting that I put on a Halfords mesh part ;)

I'm willing to stick a Porsche badge on it and charge you three times the price if you want [;)]

Honestly - pay the money, get the ready made ones and give the centre mesh to your wife as an early Christmas present; Tell her it's a Porsche flour sieve :)

It's such a faff doing it especially on your own as the front bumper is so flexible. I didn't have much fun in the process.

I already told her that the Swiss wax was better value than some of the "waxes" that her indoors uses!

Thanx Clive I will take a look, but first I need to make overt operations undercover to the big H store :)

Here is my attempt, still waiting for OPC to finish repainting the front bumper.....
