Replacement rear arches - sources?

Hi

I've been a member for over a year now and tinkered with the car, a few small jobs here and there, but I am now getting down to some more in depth work on my "baby" - next project is the rear arches, they are bubbling a bit and overall let the rest of the bodywork down which is surprisingly good to say the car is over 20 years old. - I've decided to have new ones fitted - does anyone know of a source for replacements? Whilst I'm on I also want to re-trim the front seats (centre panels) - they are black with white pinstripe - any recommendations for either getting the material or even someone who will do it for me!

Hi Andrew,
I got mine from Exeter OPC, last year the offside cost £390+ vat but the nearside was almost twice the price, but I guess these prices fluctuate depending upon supply/demand. The inner wings (if needed) are quite a bit cheaper. Just watch for the labour in having them fitted, it's quite a time consuming job so best to get someone who's done them before to tackle it (or a fixed price quote).

Southbound are the best source for the rarer Porsche fabrics, they can fit it too although they're not exactly cheap (but come very highly recommended). I'd suggest trying a local specialist first as it's no different from retrimming any other seat, that is assuming you can get the fabric of course.

Got the car back last week and very pleased with the job - £425 all in for two new arches (apparently from a Mazda 626) and a bit of cosmetic repair to boot lid, sills & passenger door - not pristine but looks much better now! Wheels let it down though so they went straight down to be powder coated (in black). They actually took longer to do than the car but look great (in my opinion) - now I need to source some centre caps or spray mine - bought some chrome/black on ebay as a temp measure until I can get mine done - I asked dealer for a price on black with coloured crest but he said I didn't even want to know the price, (he had just quoted me £8.50 per wheel nut for replacements and probably thought that my reaction to that price would be a good indication of my willingness to pay whatever it was they wanted for the centre caps). Incidentally, I picked upa set of vgc nuts on ebay cheap. Undecided now whether to add stripes/decals of some description or leave as it is. Oh well, onto the seats next - I don't suppose anyones got some black pinstripe laying around! [:D][:D][:D]

we need pictures now Andrew [:D]

I'm fascinated by the Mazda arches - very interested to see how they look

Arches unrecognisable from original - apparently the 626 uses the same "pattern". Will post pics soon if wanted, just need to clean the car - I didn't want to take pictures in the current state (it's spent the last week or so on bricks in my works back yard whilst we have been having a big clear out so it's very dirty!
(I also need to work out how to upload pics as they will be my first)

You do know it's May and not the beginning of April?![;)]

Seriously though, I am a little confused - are we saying that there is a version of the Mazda 626 that has exactly the same profile and curvature of its arches as the 944?

i can well belive that is the case i has a mk1 mr2 a few years ago and the rear wheel arches were the same profile as another car think it was an austin maxi!! 200 quid from toyota or 30 quid for a pair of maxi arches from local motor factors. it happens all the time on cars. rear suspension spheres for a bently goto citroen cos they are exactly the same just lots of pounds cheaper!!

Its amazing how close some things are,I replaced the front wheelarches for my old fulvia coupe with rear arch repairs for I think it was a hillman minx, I think they were about £2.50 each, it was a long time back.
