Replacement remote keyfob options

Hi everyone, it's ages since I posted anything on this forum but I thought I'd give it a try!

I have a 2006 Cayman and I seem to have mislaid the spare remote key. I'm sure it's somewhere in the house but I just can't seem to find it. I do have the little plastic key in the leather document wallet but I was looking into the possibility of getting a replacement remote key, the question is, if I bought a used one can it be programmed to my car? I assume it's quite possible to buy the replacement blank for cutting but what about the remote and the programming of the proximity chip? I've seen some sold on ebay (3 button ones like mine) but are they reprogrammable? I havn't even considered a Porsche dealer as it's likely to be over £200! I can live without it, just would be nice to have a spare with us when we go away on holiday.

Thanks,

Martin

Don't worry, I already have! She's searched high and low for them, she's more concerned than I am, I'm sure they will turn up somewhere one day! Martin

There is one on Ebay at the moment standing at £13 with 19 hours to go then it would cost £120 or so to get it reprogrammed The key mentioned in the Boxster section is for a 2002 986 S, different key type

OK, thanks, yes I have my eye on that one, it's currently £28, I've noticed that this seller has sold a couple previously for around £30 or so. Cheers, Martin
