Replacement seats

Driver's seat beginning to go on the bolster. My trimmer might be able to repair/re-face, but otherwise, I have questions:

Looking for good condition blue seats (leather or pin stripe). Metropole Blue?
Will Boxster seats fit straight in? (older ones are little better)?
Has anybody re trimmed using the bolster from a passenger seat?

Could always store the original seats and fit aftermarket buckets. Has anybody done that and was it satisfactory>

Thanks

I thought my Cobra (?) buckets were the nuts, and easily a third the weight of the originals.

You do feel every subtle movement from the car when installed so be prepared to think your suspension is shot.

Yes, absolutely anything can be fixed or repaired and will be much cheaper than new or 2nd hand seats.

I had a look through the dusty recesses of my hard drives to see if I could find the seat swap article I did for Porsche Post. I didn't find much, aside it was 2010.

What I did find was I put the original Porsche seat on the bathroom scales - 3½ Stone each. That's a lot of weight to carry about.

The new seat was significantly less but I did go for steel brackets, rather than aluminium, as was bolting the original seat belt latches to the brackets.

Added to the additional comfort and dynamic input from the bucket seats I wouldn't swap back. The rear seats become redundant, as you cant get to them. That meant I could remove the seat backs and save more weight :)

My original leather sports seats are in great condition. But I would like some leather fixed back seats, and to dump the rear seats. I think some cars came with them as standard, but even used, prices are quite salty.

I booked an appointment at GSM Sport Seats in Nottinghamshire and went full Goldilocks - sitting in dozens of seats to find the ones that were “just right”. They were really helpful and not pushy at all. I tried to fit fixed back buckets with sliding rails but they ended up too high and i caught the roof when wearing a helmet so they’re fixed.

It is a big help to be able to get your bum into as many seats as possible, as they do feel different. I was surprised when I found I needed fat person seat.

I also found I had to get the rear of the seat as low as I could in order to achieve enough head room with a helmet. It is another job when the trained mouse is useful for doing up the fixings. I developed a whole new vocabulary of expletives while trying to get some bolts to thread cleanly.
