Replacement sills

I have had to replace the outer sill on 2 of my 944s over the years. Most recently about 2 years ago I bought a sill from Liverpool OPC (now at Chester). IIRC it was about £150 or so (PCGB member discount included). Fitting was part of a full refinish to the car so I couldn't tell you the cost of that. However, I'm fairly sure that the first job about 5 years ago was about £350 all in - never found out if the sill was OPC or otherwise at that time though.

I wrote off my first 944 at 20mph on a r/about. ( Lets not go there...) so I didn't get the chance to get the sills replaced. I guess it must be a weak spot as there are quite a few cars failing here. Mine was due to a blocked drain hole and the stupid thing is I iknew about it yet did nothing for years . Ended up with a hole you could put your fist into!
As I understand (confirmed on PET) there isn't an OPC cill pressing that accommodates the bottom corner of the rear wheel arch. The cill pressing is literally the bit under the door. If the rust is in front of the rear wheel they have to get a rear corner pressing and cut the bottom corner off it (about 25% of the pressing). It is this that costs the money to do the job properly.

excellent Paul thanks thats just what we needed. Looks like the replaxement panel shown needs a bit of a curve put on it though. This reminds me of all the years I persevered with MGB's and Datsun 240z's rust buckets all]

Sills or Cills? []
(sorry couldn't help myself)
For God's sake don't start that here, there was about four pages on a recent Porsche-1.net thread. Both are in the Oxford Compact Dictionary iirc so suit yourself.

Actually got the car painted down at Daventry. Haven't used anyone up here yet. I am not happy with the result of the work I've had done so I'm in the same boat as you currently. If you find anywhere good I'd be interested though. Tried Loyds autobodies in Liverpool and they never sent me the quote - think they thought I was joking.

It's not often you hear of the inner sill needing replacement, so I don't know the cost. Maybe Peter Empson might know as he seems to be replacing every bit of metal []
