Replacement tailpipe tips on 997.1 c2s

Hi, I have brought a 997.1 c2s just two weeks ago and have now noticed the chrome exhaust tips have been cleaned with wire wool [:(] and are scratched to pieces.
Does anyone know if you can get these replaced outside of a opc as they want a fortune to replace, or could i get them re-chromed.
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul. Wire wool!! You are kidding me!!??[:-] Have you tried to "revive" them with something like Autoglym chrome polish or maybe the silver version of Dura-glit?

If it was wire wool then I suppose it's all over! In which case: http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/porsche_997_performance_exhausts.html

Hi Paul,

Try http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/ or http://www.design911.co.uk/

Both sell replacement chrome tips from memory.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies. As i am a total newbie at this i forgot to say that i brought from an opc and as such the car is under warranty. So if i purchase from an indie do i invalidate my warranty.

Thx
Paul

Hi-Paul
Try Adrians tip with chrome polish if no go then remove and get rechromed (Google rechroming specialists) far cheaper than replacement and not a gamble like Ebay.

Hi Paul. The ones one e-bay look like a pile of sh*te [:-] - and I'm sure you don't want to put them on your new car?! The ones from Porsche Shop will be of a good gauge and well chromed.
The ones here: http://www.fabspeed.com/997_997S_997GT3.html look very similar to the Porsche Shop ones. If they are the Fabspeed ones on the Porsche Shop site they'll be lovely.

I'd be amazed if your warranty was effected by changing to these (or similar) ones. Then again, this is a Porsche warranty we're talking about here!![;)] ("I'm sorry, sir but that Magic Tree air-freshener is not standard Porsche issue and has invalidated your £1,500 warranty")[:D]

Hi Adrian,
Thx for the help. I am still a bit miffed that the opc must have known thses were c**p as the rest of the car was sparkling and tailpipes dirty. Hmmm
Still you live and learn. I am going to Gaydon on Sunday so will have a look there and maybe pick a few more brains, if not will be getting the ones from Porsche shop.
Thx again
Paul

If you were to buy genuine parts even from Porscheshop or the likes, I'm not sure how the OPC would know you have had them changed...[;)]

See you on Sunday..
