Replacement Tyres

Hi all, just had MOT on my 1989 3.2 Coupe and all OK, except rear tyres just barely legal. I currently have Khumo Ecsta Sports on all round and have been fairly happy with them. However am going to change all 4 now so I have a matching set in terms of age and tread pattern, any recommendations, what do you all use and are happy with? I do mostly road trips in UK and Europe, some spirited driving but no track days etc.
Thanks Dave

I USE MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 2`S NOW
SOFTER THAN BRIDGESTONE SO2`S THAT I USED TO HAVE ON
I CAN RECOMMEND THE 2`S

Try the new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, I recently changed from the Michelin Pilot Supersport 2s and the grip, particularly in the wet is amazing. (Only changed my fronts, the rears are still PS2S), not sure if the rears are available yet.
Google the reviews for the PS4S.

Ive got Conti sports on at the moment, seem good all round and less noise than the Bridgestones I had before.

A vote for Conti Sport's from me. I've got them on both my 911 and Boxster and they do everything so well that I can't think of any reason to change.

I've got Bridgestones SO2s all round - no complaints, ride and grip well and look great (in my eyes!).

Thanks all for the comments. I will take a look at all these and try and pick, probably will depend on availability and to a degree price.
Cheers
Dave

FYI, I did find BlackCircles (delivered to and fitted by ATS) the best and cheapest route. ATS can't match BlackCircles even tho they own them!

Ditto the last comment. I found Black Circles the most competitive on price for several varied applications.....
Cheers,
Nick.

Re tyre choice I can recommend both Continental ContiSport and Michelin Pilot Exalto. I found the Conti's good and also the Michelin, they were both grippy and good in both wet and dry road conditions. I've had a number of sets of each. I don't know how they do it but the Michelin's last longer, and perhaps grip a little better, I don't know how they do it! So, as I do a reasonable mileage the Michelin's suit me, if I did low miles I could chose the Conti's and try to use them up sufficiently before they aged.
From the feedback above it looks like I have more Michelin choice when I need my next set, even if they cost a bit more I think they are value for money. The tyres supplied have all been made in Germany, I wasn't expecting that for Michelin.
(Check your choice for the Porsche N Homologated approval: link - but doesn't seem to be a full list of manufacturers)

Thanks for all the comments. Went for Conti Sport Contacts in the end, they were available and are Porsche N rated as well. Got a good price from Blackcircles and had them fitted locally. First proper test for them this weekend as going to Silverstone Classic from Manchester, should wear them in well!! Hope to see some more 3.2's there this weekend; we are there on the Saturday.

Too late now, but I have found the cheapest way to get tyres is to order them direct from Camskill, they charge a frankly crazy £3 per tyre delivery, and then get a local chap to fit them.

Generally about £15 a corner cheaper.

I have been using Contis for years and always happy, but then limited choices in 245x16

Thanks Mark will bear that in mind next time, appreciate the tip. I did get a local guy to fit at a good price and as important without any damage to wheels etc. of course!

Useful thread. I have Bridgestone S-02 on my 3.2CS - very happy - good all round tyre; however, it seems that Bridgestone are no longer manufacturing them....... They seem to have been replaced with the S-02A which no longer has 16" rim size! So be warned - if you buy S-02s for your 3.2 make sure you check the date code on the sidewall. Not sure what I'll get when it comes for replacement time. I suspect I'll go for Michelins.

Ditto for Bridgestone SO2s, the only issue is that they no long make the 245, but a 225 will stretch nicely over a 8 or 9 inch Fuch
