Replacing Centre Console

Hi,

The "leatherette" on part of my centre console has been damaged since before I acquired the car and it bugs me. So I'm going to now do something about it.

Anyone know how you remove item 1 (marked below)?

I'll probably try to buy a replacement "item 1" because the effort to find somewhere that can do the repairs in Scotland is likely to outweight the OPC price (but maybe they will prove me wrong!)

Mark,

If you remove the switch panels at the front (they just pull out) you'll see the fixing screws for the console. You'll also have to remove the trim plate under the handbrake lever (watch the little one right under the handle) and there are some more console fixing screws under there. The rear-most tidy tray cum-cassette holder also needs to come out and there are some more screws under there.

Once all the screws are out it's just a matter of manoeuvring the console over the gear lever and you can unclip the gaiter once you've got access to the underside.

These consoles come up on eBay from time to time - I managed to get a black leather one for mine some time ago. I suspect the OPC price might make your eyes water!!

Regards

Dave

Exactly, as desrcibed above

have a look on p-car.com for an additional reference. There is an article on replacing the handbrake lever which describes how to remove the console.

Certainly did! £568 + vat, less our discount - just for the plastic piece of console that's covered in "leatherette".[&:] There's just so little connection between the price and what you get.

They were kind enough to recommend a local trimmer who they think will be able to sort it for rather less....

Thanks for that John.
That one does not contain the piece I need, but another one does....although that's wrong colour. Nevertheless, I've set up a saved search now, so maybe I'll find one.
