Replacing Clear Indicator Lenses

Guest

New member
Hi my car has rear clear indicator lenses and I would like to replace then with red items.
Any ideas ? Can I use the existing ones and spray them or just ditch them and go for the red items.

As the car is red I think it will really compliment it, would I need to change the orange bulbs.

Thanks

You couldn' t spray them. You would get no light through the paint.

Nortmally you have either
i. orange lens with a clear bulb, so orange light is emitted
ii. clear lens with a orange bulb, so orange light is emitted

In the case of smoked lenses, I think the bulb is brighter to make up for it.

I don' t see how you would get orange light out of a red indicator.

Are you sure this would be legal?

Hi Stuart, thanks for the reply. The look i' m after is similar to the 965 (I think) so its almost a complete red splash along the back.

Regarding painting I think there are some sprays that have as long as they are put on thin enough they still allow light out.

All the above I' m happy to be corrected on.

I don' t really want to shell out £120 for new if its possible to change or get second hand lenses.

Cheers

You can spray them with a special lens-paint made just for the job. I' m sure I' ve seen it on Type911' s website @:
