Replacing front bumper number plate holder

Oh wise ones, I need some advice...

I've had a couple of holes in the black number plate holder since I bought my C2 coupe 18 months ago. However, one of them has split further due to a stone impact (or something) on the M40 the other day (there was a pretty loud impact noise and no obvious paint chips so it must have hit the plate square on). So I've ordered the replacement number plate holder from Design911. Whilst I wait for it to arrive can someone tell me how much of a pain it is to replace? i.e. is it a case of removing the number plate and then the said holder only or will I need to remove the front bumper in order to replace it?

Given what it is, I would assume the former, but would like to check...

Cheers!

JK

Well I know on mine when I removed the number plate there were four screws attaching the number plate holder to the bumper so I'd imagine yours is similar unless someone has bodged it on in the past.

There should be two plastic expanding nuts in the front PU onto which the carrier fixes, and two which go in the carrier onto which the number plate fixes. Like this:

Hi James

I was able to do this very quickly & easily on my (long gone) 3.4 with the same issue as yours by the looks of it! I'd imagine that the process is the same for the 3.6.

Interestingly, the holder was only about £5 from an OPC at the time (which was much cheaper than anywhere else - again, at the time), so always worth checking!

As you say, you'll see once you remove the old one, but I'm sure it will be a doddle.

Just changed over mine to an Australian one, here number plates are 37cm long, UK ones around 47cm, so when I took of the old plate holder off I was left with 4 screw holes in the PU as it had been screwed directly to the PU and not using the fixings it should! So I had these
visable and had to get the whole PU resprayed with the holes filled, bloody expensive. The OZ plate holder is a metal strip and 2 plastic blocks which fit in the 2 square holes already in the PU, the plates here (you can only get them from the DOT) already come with pre drilled holes and can fix to the plate holder in different ways.

Brief update, absolutely simple (obviously had not been bodged on before)... took approx 5 minutes, including cleaning where the number plate holder used to be to remove the unsightly "tide" mark around it. Thanks all for the advice/recommendations!
