I've been having trouble with my PCM head unit. Anyone have any experience with changing to a non-Porsche double-DIN head unit? Did anyone find one that was compatible with the trip computer, or should I just try to find a used replacement? Any advice gratefully received!

Had mine replaced last year!
An after market double din Pioneer touch screen Sat Nav unit.
Connects to my phone by Bluetooth. Streams music and makes phone calls with access to my phones contact list.
Cost is just over £700, parts and labour including colour reversing camera.
Not may places know how to fit them so be careful. Main problem is the fibre optic cable from the porsches amp you would need a converter/spliter. some places charge £150-250 for then I found them on ebay for approx £50.

Thanks JW, will have chat with a local installer. Were you able to hook up to the steering wheel controls as well?

I've gone for an Apple Car Play unit by Alpine.

ILX-007 is the model.

You'll need a Connect 2 Fibre Optic connector (make sure it's the correcdt one tho, and yeah you can get that to still connect to the steering wheel.

Forget trying to link to the trip etc, and also remember that OPC will charge you labour to recode a replacement 2nd hand as it's matched to your VIN.

I was about 700 all in too.

I can put you in touch with my friend who does them and he can maybe help you.

Cheers
Paul
